Knives Out

Yes, I love it, I want it now. I love Rian Johnson’s work, so I’m always highly anticipating whatever he has coming, and as soon as I heard he was doing an Agatha Christie style mystery, I was so excited to see what he does with that formula. The cast here is amazing, it looks great, I already have a ton of faith that this will turn out great, so whatever, I didn’t even need to see it. I’ve been sold already.

Knives Out hits theaters on November 27th.

Jumanji: The Next Level

I’m amazed by how good this looks. The first one – as in Welcome to the Jungle – not the original film, was a very pleasant surprise. I was skeptical about the idea of a sequel to that, but as soon as they revealed who was playing who once they were in the game, I was immediately sold. I can’t wait for this. It seems like the creative team from the first film is also back, so this is turning out pretty cool. Color me surprised.

Jumanji: The Next Level opens in theaters on December 13th.

Loro

Finally! I’ve been waiting for a long time to see this. I’ve enjoyed a number of Paolo Sorrentino’s recent work, so I’ve been anticipating his biopic on Silvio Berlusconi every since it was first announced. I am a bit worried because he originally released this in Italy as a two-parter, with a combined runtime of about five hours, I think. This is an edited version that combines the two to a roughly two-and-a-half hour runtime. I would much rather prefer to see the original version, but I hope this version ends up good.

Loro hits select theaters on September 20th and VOD platforms on September 27th.

Burn

Wow, where did this come from? I’ve never heard of this one before, but it looks really cool. Looks like it could be right up my alley. I’m digging the premise, I’m digging the cast, it’s got a neat atmosphere to it. I’m very much into this.

Burn opens in select theaters and VOD platforms on August 23rd.

Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmageddon

Yes! Now, this is what I’m talking about. I’m sure I talked about a previous teaser, but I’ll say it again – the first Shaun The Sheep movie is amazing, it’s classic slapstick done better than pretty much anything that has tried to ape that style, especially in children’s animation. It’s so damn good, and I’m glad Aardman is going for round two with this. I’m very excited to check this out.

Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmageddon will release in theaters on December 13th.

Spies In Disguise

I saw the first trailer for this, and was intrigued enough. It still looks solid enough. Again, they mainly just show the setup, and nothing about where it goes from there, so I don’t have much to add. It looks perfectly fine.

Spies In Disguise opens in theaters on Christmas.

Buñuel In The Labyrinth Of The Turtles

I’m sadly not as well versed in the filmography of Spanish filmmaker, Luis Buñuel, as much as I would like to. He’s just one of my blind spots. However, I am very intrigued by this. It certainly is a compelling subject for an animated feature, and maybe it can be an interesting gateway to explore more Buñuel films. I’m definitely keeping my eye out for this one.

Buñuel In The Labyrinth Of The Turtles will release in select theaters starting August 16th.
