Babyteeth

Looks fine enough I suppose. It follows that indie trailer formula to a T, but when you got folks like Ben Mendelsohn and Essie Davis involved, how could I not be at least mildly curious? I’m not familiar with Shannon Murphy, she’s largely done shorts and TV, but the word on this from its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival last year was fairly positive, so I am intrigued, even if the trailer isn’t the most mind blowing.

Babyteeth hits select drive-in theaters and VOD platforms on June 19th.

Space Force

This actually looks better than I thought it would be. Not that I thought it would be terrible, it’s just that I wasn’t necessarily as into The Office as everyone else seems to be, but I gotta say, the cast here is pretty stacked. Unfortunately, I just feel like I’d be more interested if this was a movie instead of a series. Maybe it it’s like Never Have I Ever, where it’s a tight, ten half-hour episodes, but any more than that, I feel like they would really be stretching this premise. I’m curious, but not sold. Also, this is barely a teaser, this is a full on trailer, I don’t know why they’re calling it a teaser.

Space Force hits Netflix on May 29th.

Think Like A Dog

Sometimes I think about how much I miss trailers having voice overs, but then I see these super cheesy, low budget movies use voice overs, and I’m just…not having it. This looks like trash, but there is a moment about a minute in where it looked like this was going to take a seriously dark turn, and I really wish it did. Jokes aside, it doesn’t look good, but it’s harmless enough. I’m sure kids would enjoy it. I just thought it would be an amusing inclusion.

Think Like A Dog will hit VOD platforms on June 9th.

The High Note

Just like with The Lovebirds, it looks like the distributor didn’t bother making a new trailer for its new release date. This was supposed to hit theaters this weekend, but obviously can’t do that, so instead they’re releasing it on demand later this month. They made no different trailer for this, but since there aren’t many other trailers released, I figured I’d bring it to your attention in case you were looking forward to this. My general thoughts on this haven’t changed since the last time I saw it.

The High Note will be available on VOD platforms on May 29th.

A quick note: I am grateful to everyone who comes over, and reads my stuff. I hope it provides some kind of distraction from all the things that are happening out there because of the COVID-19 situation. Having said that, my usual source of income is gone because of the pandemic, so while I am thankfully in a slightly better position than most, any contribution to my PayPal (which you can do so here) would be greatly appreciated. If you have any ideas for incentives for people who donate, I’m all ears, feel free to get in touch. Obviously, you don’t have to if you don’t want to, only give if you are able, and of course prioritize the ones in need around you. Stay safe, and thanks to anyone who donates!
