All Is True

Hey, this is a nice little end-of-the-year surprise! Granted, I think this is only playing in one theater in LA when it’s released before going wide in early 2019, so they can get their Oscar-qualifying run in, which seems rather pointless since there hasn’t been any build up to this at all, and I doubt this will get the resources to campaign against some of the other front runners. Either way, I’m all for a new Kenneth Branagh joint, especially when it involves Shakespeare, so to finally see him play the dude is totally catching my interest. Also, this has nothing to do with anything, but a balding Branagh with a beard looks oddly similar to Ben Kingsley. Good luck trying to unsee that.

All Is True will open in LA on December 21st before going wide on a date that has yet to be announced.

Happy Death Day 2U

I’m shocked it took me this long to realize that the trailer for this only just released a week ago, despite premiering it in front of Halloween, and having seen it in front of a few other film since. But hey, it looks fun! The first one was a pleasant surprise, and it looks like they’re taking some pretty big swings with this one. I’m all for it.

Happy Death Day 2U hits theaters on February 14th, 2019.

The Standoff At Sparrow Creek

This is low-key one of the best trailers I’ve seen in a long time. When this was hitting the festival circuit, the word-of-mouth seemed solid enough. I like the setup, and I’ve really come to appreciate James Dale Badge over the last few years. I’m curious if this has anything interesting to say about mass shootings, extremism, etc., since it would be pretty topical to do so. Either way, if the film is anywhere near as tense as this trailer, this could be a nice treat.

The Standoff At Sparrow Creek will open in select theaters and VOD platforms on January 18th, 2019.

Breakthrough

This cast is way too good for what seems like dull, Christian fluff. I personally prefer my faith-based movies in the batshit insane variety, but whatever. This looks…fine, I guess, at least, for the audience that it’s aiming toward. Honestly, the only thing interesting about this is that it’s directed by the actress who played B’Elanna Torres on Star Trek: Voyager.

Breakthrough will be released on April 17th, 2019.

Captain Marvel

Don’t have much else to add that I didn’t already say on the previous trailer. It looks fun, I don’t need to be more sold on it than I already am, and I’m sure it’s the same for a lot of people.

Captain Marvel will hit theaters on March 8th, 2019.

Game Of Thrones: Season Eight

Oh, fire! Ice! I get it! Jokes aside, there aren’t many trailers this week, and as of me writing this, none of those other rumored Marvel trailers hit yet, so I figured this would interest some folks. I consider myself a casual fan of Game of Thrones, in the sense that I love watching it, but I’m very forgetful of names, locations, character dynamics, etc. after not seeing it for a period of time. There’s nothing here to really comment on, at least from by super basic perspective, but I am excited to see how this show concludes.

Game Of Thrones: Season Eight will premiere on HBO on a currently unspecified date in April of 2019.
