Trap

I love how if this were from any other director, people would say the trailer gives too much away, but since it’s Shyamalan, you know there’s gonna be a whole other level to this, and I’m so excited. This is a really fun premise, and I love seeing Josh Hartnett in the lead. I also dig the scope of this, I feel like this is the biggest production Shyamalan has done, at least in terms of handling big crowds and extras. Even though I was a little iffy on certain elements of Knock At The Cabin, Shyamalan still has it as a tension builder and visual storyteller, so I can’t wait.

Trap hits theaters on August 9th.

Blink Twice

I’m sorry, Zoë Kravitz, I wasn’t familiar with your game. This looks rad. Looks dark, funny, and sinister, and weird. I like the vibe they’re going for with this movie. It looks cool and fun. I like that I don’t have much of an ideas as to where exactly this will go, so that’s exciting. I can’t wait to see what they have cooked up here.

Blink Twice opens in theaters on August 23rd.

Slow

I feel like there isn’t a ton of representation for the asexual community, which I suppose makes sense because it’s not very common, and it’s usually thought that situations and relationships involving sex would be more inclined to have conflict as opposed to one where a partner doesn’t experience that kind of desire. Or at least, that’s maybe what a lot of writers think. There’s nuance about the asexual experience, and it looks like this will dive into it. I’ll keep an eye out for it.

Slow opens in select theaters starting May 3rd.

What You Wish For

Stahl is an underrated actor, it’s nice to see him in something like this. It looks intriguing for sure, getting slight The Menu vibes, more so in tone than plot, but it could be fun. I don’t have much else to say, to be honest. It’s a solid trailer, if the word on this is good, I’ll have to give it a look.

What You Wish For hits select theaters and VOD platforms on May 31st.

Deadpool & Wolverine

Yeah, like a lot of people, I’m definitely looking forward to this. Maybe not as enthusiastically, but it does admittedly look like a lot of fun. I enjoyed the second more than the first, and while I’m not a big fan of director Shawn Levy, he’s the kind of competent journeyman who might be able to decently pull this off. I guess it helps that this is the only big Marvel movie to come out this year, so it’s not as overwhelming as it would be if this was like one of four.

Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26th.

Robot Dreams

I don’t even have to talk about this trailer. Not only have I seen the film, I’ve put it on my list of favorite films from 2023 since it came with the Neon screeners. Please, if you love animation, if you love emotional stories, if you love the idea of a dialogue free movie, he’ll, just good Cinema in general, watch this movie. It is truly a special and beautiful and amazing film. You won’t regret it.

Robot Dreams opens in select theaters on May 31st.
