Talk To Me

I like what I see here. Don’t recognize any names or faces, but the vibe is really cool. It’s definitely an intriguing premise, even if I am kinda getting tired of seeing yet another horror movie that explores grief. This honestly looks a lot more mainstream than I would expect from A24, but maybe that’s just the marketing. Either way, I’m intrigued.

Talk To Me hits theaters on July 28th.

Daliland

Look, I like to keep it real, if I see Mary Harron’s name. I’m there on day one. Simple as that. The fact that this is a movie about the one and only Salvador Dalí is just the icing on the cake. I’m very curious about her take on his story, and I’m sure it’ll offer something to chew on or bring in an interesting perspective. I can’t wait.

Daliland opens in select theaters and VOD platforms on June 9th.

Fool’s Paradise

I’ve been looking forward to this ever since it was announced, and back when it was titled El Tonto. I gotta say, I am shocked at how good this looks. Like, it doesn’t feel like any other comedy I’ve seen a million times already, it looks fairly ambitious, it looks like a movie and not an extended sitcom. I even like that it almost feels like the kind of premise you’d see in an old slapstick comedy. I’m honestly quite impressed by this, and I hope the film lives up to what this trailer is offering.

Fool’s Paradise hits theaters on May 12th.

The Mother

Jennifer Lopez in an epic assassin action movie, yeah, sure, I will absolutely take that. Mulan aside, I’ve dug the works of Niki Caro that I have seen. This looks like a pretty straightforward thriller, the kind you’d see play on TNT, and while it’s nothing special, it still lowkey rules. I’m hoping that’s what we get here. It looks solid enough. Let’s hope they deliver.

The Mother will premiere on Netflix on May 12th.

The Eight Mountains

This is one I have no idea about, haven’t heard of it, don’t know about the filmmakers, or what it’s about, but looking at the trailer, I’m liking what I see. It’s definitely selling on a certain vibe, like a hangout movie with these two old friends. What exactly they’re going through, I’m not entirely sure, but it looks compelling, and visually sumptuous. So, I’m in.

The Eight Mountains opens in select theaters starting April 28th.

Chile ’76

I want to look up the historical context behind this because it looks very compelling, and I’m sure having that information would enhance the viewing experience greatly. Obviously, the title reminds me of last year’s Argentina, 1985, which was fine, but ultimately kind of hollow and gave off the impression of being very sanitized and safe. I don’t get that vibe from this, so I’m hoping whatever this explores, it does so in a truthful and cinematic way.

Chile ’76 opens in select theaters starting May 5th.
