Run With The Hunted

Looks neat, I suppose. Although, I was honestly much more interested in the first half of the trailer when it seemed to be about a gang of kids. That just seems much more compelling to me than the generic snitch story the second half seems to explore. I like Michael Pitt, and the supporting cast looks solid. But I can’t say I’m all that intrigued.

Run With The Hunted hits VOD platforms on June 26th.

Lovecraft Country

Yes, this still looks really cool, and I can’t wait to see it. I already got into some of the reasons why when I talked about the other teaser before, and I don’t have much else to add here. Looks great, hope it turns out great.

Lovecraft Country will air on HBO sometime in August.

Perry Mason

I guess every generation gets their Perry Mason. I am familiar with some of the older ones. I know I’ve seen one of the Warren William movies, I’ve seen numerous episodes of Raymond Burr’s original run, as well as a bunch of the TV movies during his reprisal in the late 80s. I haven’t seen any of the short-lived Monte Markham run from the 70s, though, I hear it isn’t particularly good. This version looks solid, and I’m looking forward to seeing what Matthew Rhys brings to the role, even if the mystery itself looks like a fairly basic Los Angeles conspiracy.

Perry Mason will premiere on HBO starting June 21st.

Another Round

This is the new film from Thomas Vinterberg, the Danish filmmaker who made The Celebration, The Hunt (the 2012 version), Far From The Madding Crowd, The Commune, and most recently, The Command. I like that the basic premise is “what if a bunch of middle-aged dudes became alcoholics for an experiment?” It sounds funny, but it seems to be playing things mostly straight, though that last shot is hilarious. This was just announced as a part of Cannes 2020’s official selection. Don’t know when this will come out, but I am curious.

Another Round does not have a release date yet.
