Trailer Talk: Memory, About Dry Grasses, and more!

Memory

Looks interesting enough. There’s a really great cast involved,; I feel like I haven’t seen Jessica Chastain in a long time. I will say though, I am not familiar with Michel Franco, but from the looks of his filmography, he’s known for these lowkey dramas. It could go either way. These are not the easiest movies to market. I’ll keep an open mind, I can definitely see the potential in something interesting and moving here.

Memory hits select theaters on December 22nd.

About Dry Grasses

I haven’t seen all of Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s films, but the few that I have are ones that I’m quite fond of. I really love his quiet and complex sensibility, and he’s a filmmaker that knows how to utilize an extended running time to make the space for so many ideas and emotions to really breathe. So, always excited whenever he has a new project out, I can’t wait to see this.

About Dry Grasses hits select theaters on February 23rd, 2024.

Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget

I don’t think Chicken Run was the kind of movie to warrant a sequel, but I’m also not going to be against a new Aardman picture. I recently heard about how the factory that produced their clay is shutting down, so who knows how much longer they’ll be going. I’ll take all the Aardman that I can get. The movie does look fun and delightful, with that typical Aardman charm. Not a whole lot else to say really, I think it looks cute.

Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget hits Netflix on December 15th.

Our Son

Now that I think about it, I don’t think I’ve seen many breakup movies that tell the story from a gay perspective. I’m sure there have been plenty, but none with big names like Luke Evans and Billy Porter – very random pairing by the way. Otherwise, looks pretty solid. Effective trailer, gets all the necessary info across, I get a strong sense of the dynamics here. I’ll be keeping my eye out for this.

Our Son opens in select theaters on December 8th before hitting VOD platforms on December 15th.

The Sacrifice Game

Took me a second to realize that was Mena Massoud, and then I just thought about how he talked about how he didn’t get any auditions for like a year after Aladdin grossing a billion dollars. Since then it’s been a few indies and a couple straight to streaming rom-coms, and this. Not judging, just find it kinda interesting. I haven’t seen any of Jenn Wexler’s movies, but this looks like it could be a fun time. Gotta love a Christmas themed horror movie.

The Sacrifice Game will hits Shudder on Deeember 8th.

The Book Of Clarence

The trailers for this movie have been very strange. Like, there’s moments that are clearly meant to be jokes, but the trailer is edited like a more serious movie, so it doesn’t let the joke linger enough to make you laugh at it. Very strange, I don’t think I’ve seen anything quite like that. Still, I think it looks cool and interesting, and the cast is certainly a strong ensemble. Jeymes Samuel has proven himself to be a pretty compelling visual stylist, so I’d love to see what he brings to this kind of movie.

The Booke Of Clarence will be released in theaters on January 12th, 2024.
