Meg 2: The Trench

I still can’t believe they got Ben Wheatley to direct this. And not only that, it’s somehow more over-the-top than the first, fully embracing its b-movie sensibilities. Everything about this is great, that needle drop too. I love it, I can’t wait, this is gonna be so silly. I gt nothing else to add here.

Meg 2: The Trench hits theaters on August 4th.

Run Rabbit Run

Neat idea. But Netflix can be pretty hit-and-miss with the genre stuff. I do really like Sarah Snook though. I haven’t seen Succession, but I first saw her in Predestination, and she blew me away. She’s a performer I try to keep my eye out for, and while I don’t think anything movie-wise has come close to what she did with Predestination, she’s a joy to watch nevertheless. This looks like it could be solid, who know? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Run Rabbit Run hits Netflix June 28th.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3

I don’t recall the second film being particularly good, but it seems to have done well enough to warrant a third one. And I gotta say, it doesn’t look that bad. I suppose it helps that Nia Vardalos is directing this one, so it’s not like she can sleepwalk her way through it. John Corbett just looks happy to be there, which is pretty amusing. I can’t say I’ll have high expectations for this, but I don’t know, I’ve grown kinda soft when it comes to these kinds of movies, so maybe I’ll have a good time.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 opens in theaters on September 8th.

God Is A Bullet

Boy, what a loaded trailer. First off, I had to look up if this was actually inspired by true events because this is wild, and I was only able to find info – and very little at that – about the book, which is written under a pseudonym…interesting. Anyway, this looks trashy as hell, but it also looks pretty fun. Nick Cassavetes has an odd filmography as a director, you can’t really pin his style down. But I do like the cast here, and it looks like a decent amount of money has been put into this, so consider me intrigued.

God Is A Bullet will be released in select theaters June 23rd before hitting VOD platforms on July 11th.

Falcon Lake

I had no idea Charlotte Le Bon was making her feature directorial debut, I’ve liked her as an actor in the handful of things I’ve seen her in. And I gotta say, this trailer is terrific, has a nice mood and atmosphere to it, I like the combination of coming-of-age tropes with horror elements lightly mixed in. Looks super promising. Definitely excited to see this.

Falcon Lake opens in select theaters on June 2nd before being available on VOD platforms on June 13th.

The Wrath Of Becky

I remember seeing the first Becky, and thinking it was a pretty solid little genre film. Never expected there to be a sequel, especially with a whole different creative team. But you know what, I’m all in. This looks like a blast. I’m all for seeing neo-Nazis get what’s coming to them in gruesome fashion. It’s wild to me that Lulu Wilson hasn’t been in a film since the first Becky, she’s very talented and has really made quite the name for herself as a new horror icon with stuff like Ouija: Origin of Evil and Annabelle: Creation. Definitely looking forward to this.

The Wrath Of Becky opens in select theaters on May 26th.
