Maestro

Lovely teaser. I don’t really have much to add to the whole nose discourse, especially after the Bernstein family already put out a statement where they seem to be OK with it, and were very hands-on during the process with Cooper. Anyways, Bernstein is one of those guys who I know mostly broad strokes things about, but in terms of intimate details, I’m mostly in the dark, so it’ll be interesting to see his story play out, hopefully in a faithful way. I didn’t love A Star Is Born, but I think Bradley Cooper is a compelling filmmaker, and I’m curious to see whatever he does next.

Maestro will be released in select theaters on November 22nd before premiering exclusively on Netflix starting December 20th.

All Dirt Roads Taste Of Salt

I love the Malick-esque vibe of this, it’s so interesting and atmospheric. Apparently, there’s very little dialogue in this film, which intrigues me more. It’s definitely an ambitious film, and the buzz on this is through the roof. I am on the hype train, I can’t wait to see it. And I can’t wait to see what else this filmmaker, Raven Jackson, has in store.

All Dirt Roads Taste Of Salt opens in theaters on a currently unspecified date this fall.

El Conde

I really like the works of Pablo Larraín a lot, and this looks to be another fascinating project for him. Granted, I feel like I might be lost give the specificity of what this is exploring culturally and politically, but I suppose a little research before watching couldn’t hurt. Love the look and the feel, and I’m glad Netflix gave him the resources to make something like this.

El Conde hits Netflix on September 15th.

Rebel

I’m really rooting for this one, not only because directors Adil and Bilall delivered a great Bad Boys sequel a couple years back, but they were really screwed over with the Batgirl debaccle. I’m hoping that we can still see that film one day, but in the meantime, this looks awesome. The energy is great, the subject matter is really interesting, and certainly the most darkest stuff I’ve seen from them – having not yet seen their early couple films. I’m excited for this one, for sure.

Rebel hits select theaters on September 15th.

You Are So Not Invited To My Bah Mitzvah

Looks like a bit of a family affair since Adam Sandler’s wife and daughters are all in this. It looks cute. I didn’t have a ton of exposure to Jewish culture growing up, so I kinda have to go by pop culture and my own independent reading for the most part. The film looks pleasant enough, and the cast looks strong. I don’t know if it’s something I’ll rush to check out when it hits Netflix, but I might try and make time for it if the word is good.

You Are So Not Invited To My Bah Mitzvah hits Netflix on August 25th.

A Million Miles Away

Not super familiar with filmmaker Alejandra Márquez Abella, but I like this trailer. Granted, anything space related is one of my big weak spots, so this story was going to appeal to me in some way. Michael Peña is also a very good performer, and I’m sure he’ll do justice to the José Hernández story. I’m surprised this is a streaming exclusive, and not going to theaters. But oh well. I’m still looking forward to it.

A Million Miles Away streams exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on September 15th.
