OK, so…basically an updated version of Wait Until Dark? That’s what it feels like to me, and honestly, not a bad way to go about it. Although, I feel there would be such a security risk with an app like that, but suspension of disbelief, I guess. It looks solid, if a touch generic, but it is a January release, so I’m not expecting distributors to hit the start of the year swinging.
See For Me opens in select theaters and VOD platforms on January 7th.
I’ve been curious about this one ever since it was first being reported on. I love Jóhann Jóhannsson’s work as a composer, and he was taken from us far too soon. And the idea of him making a feature film is really interesting to me, and I’m sure a lot of folks who have been following his work. I’m glad it’s finally getting a release in the US, and while this does look a bit more on the experimental side of things, I’m still intrigued by it, and it would just be nice to see one last piece of art from a genuine, one-of-a-kind talent.
Last And First Men will play exclusively on the screen and digitally through Metrograph starting December 10th.
Not a lot of trailers came out, so I figured I’d include this new trailer for the new Matrix, which still feels like a wild thing to type out. It’s becoming more clear that there’s some meta element at play with how it’s actively reminding you and deliberately mirroring events from the original. I have no idea what’s in store here, but this is easily my most anticipated film for the rest of the year, I can’t wait to see it.
The Matrix Resurrections hits theaters on December 22nd.
Hmm…a Universal logo, but this trailer isn’t available on their main channel. Odd. Based on the comments, the book that this is based on has strong Christian undertones that the movie, or the trailer, at least, seems to be downplaying. I was getting a vibe, but wasn’t sure since this wasn’t from one a place like Pure Flix. It looks fine, I suppose. It doesn’t seem to be doing anything that fresh or interesting with this kind of genre, which I guess isn’t inherently a bad thing, but let’s just say I only bothered to include this because there weren’t many trailers out this week.
Redeeming Love opens in theaters on January 21st, 2022.
It’s a crapshoot with a lot of Saban Films releases. Sometimes, they’ll put out something that is a pleasant surprise, and other times it’s like, yeah, I can see why this probably couldn’t get distribution elsewhere. Sometimes it’s hard to get an impression from the trailer, and that’s pretty much the case here. I think there’s definitely potential with this premise, but it’s hard to get a full grasp here, especially since I know nothing about the folks behind this. Could be good, and I love being surprised, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Two Death Of Henry Baker will be released on home video and VOD platforms on January 25th, 2022.
