Omni Loop

This looks very promising. I feel like Mary-Louise Parker had a period where she was on the verge of becoming a leading lady, but it didn’t really happen, but I always thought she had the potential for a promising film career. This definitely feels like something she’d knock out of the park. Plus, you got Ayo Edebiri who is a big rising star, and a premise that is really interesting. Time loop movies can be really cool, and I think this has a lot of potential.

Omni Loop hits select theaters and VOD platforms on September 20th.

The Monkey

I’m very excited for this. I love Osgood Perkins, I was very much a fan of Longlegs, and him teaming up with James Wan, who I also adore, is something that is going to be very much up my alley. I don’t know much about this Stephen King story, but I am still looking forward to seeing what this creative team does with it. This really has the possibility of being something truly awesome.

The Monkey hits theaters on February 21st, 2025.

Saturday Night

I’m a big comedy nerd, so this feels like something that was made specifically for me. One thing I love about this is that it’s not emphasizing the comedy as much as it is the stress of putting on a show. I think that’s a great approach, and I love the cast they have here. I have my reservations with some of Jason Reitman’s movies, but this really looks like it could be something special, and I hope it lives up to the ambitions they’re placing on it.

Saturday Night opens in theaters on October 11th.

Presence

All I know is that this is the new film from Steven Soderbergh, which is frankly all I need to get excited. The guy knows how to make a quality movie, what can I say? Plus, it’s a horror film, which is also very exciting. Obviously there’s not a ton I can really say about this, since it’s a pretty basic teaser, but…yeah, put this on your radar if you haven’t already, I guess.

Presence opens in theaters on January 17th, 2025.

Disney’s Snow White

Yeah, I don’t really have a lot of great things to say about this. But I feel like I’d just be repeating a lot of the same criticisms that I’ve had with basically all of these Disney live-action remakes. This just feels so…unneeded. I’m sure the cast will be fine, but what will this be in service of? I don’t know, and I’d honestly rather not put more energy towards thinking about it than I need to.

Disney’s Snow White opens in theaters on March 21st, 2025.

Mufasa: The Lion King

Speaking of. I guess I will say, this does look more expressive and distinct, compared to most of these recent Disney movies. Some of Barry Jenkins’ flair is visible, even if it still feels like it’s a percent of a percent of what we would get if this was its own original thing. But that’s not nothing. I am curious if this movie will unwittingly justify Scar’s actions in retrospect because making Mufasa a stray that was taken in, and that we know becomes the king is definitely an odd dynamic to bring, and I wonder how it will handle that complexity. Against my better judgment, I kinda wanna see what they’re doing here.

Mufasa: The Lion King will be released in theaters on December 20th.
