Another big trailer worth making its own Trailer Talk, and boy, what a trailer it is. Check out the final trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
There’s a lot to take in, almost too much if you ask me. The trailers for this have all been weirdly edited, but at least they didn’t seemingly give away most of the essential plot points.
I will say it does seem like an improvement over the last film, which I made pretty clear on here that I wasn’t a big fan. I mean, it still doesn’t look “good,” but it be a somewhat entertaining hodgepodge of a million different ideas patched together. It’s like one part disaster movie, one part corporate espionage, and one part haunted house (but with dinosaurs) with little echoes of The Lost World sprinkled here and there. I guess it could be worse.
I don’t want to be too much of a curmudgeon here, lots of people liked the last one, and I’m sure there are folks looking forward to this. I’m not sure if this will be the box office juggernaut that the first Jurassic World was, but I’m curious to see how well the success of the last film carries over.
If anything, the thought that took over my mind was why there aren’t more dinosaur movies? Seriously, whenever a specific type/genre of movie becomes an unexpected hit, you get an onslaught of copycats from other studios both big and small attempting to get the same success. But for some reason, we aren’t getting other dinosaur movies from big studios. We’re getting more and more giant monster movies, so what’s the deal here? I don’t know about you, but I think we could all use some more dinosaur movies.
Well, it looks like I’m digressing, so I’ll just end this here.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will hit theaters on June 22nd.
