Trailer Talk: Humane, Alien: Romulus, and more!

Humane

Another Cronenberg kiddo? Hell yes I’m in! This looks fun! Definitely not as gnarly as Brandon’s stuff, but still has a lot of that sense of social commentary that traces back to their father. I like the darkly comedic vibe, and the premise itself is really intriguing. I’m really excited to check this out.

Humane opens in select theaters on April 26th before streaming on Shudder on July 26th.

Alien: Romulus

Listen…I am still very upset that Ridley Scott will never complete his David story arc from Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, but at the same time, I like Fede Alvarez, and I also like literally all the Alien movies, so chances are I’m gonna dig this. Even if it does basically look like a loose remake of the first film. Alvarez is a nasty dude, so I can’t wait to see the kind of carnage he unleashes with this property.

Alien: Romulus hits theaters on August 16th.

In A Violent Nature

Ooh, I really like this. Like, what if you watch a Friday The 13th style slasher but purely from the killer’s perspective. Love the atmosphere, and the overall vibe. It’s genuinely refreshing, and I love me a good slasher, so it’s nice to see someone try to breathe some fresh air into it.

In A Violent Nature opens in theaters on May 31st.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

I’ll keep giving Tim Burton chances even though his track record has been shaky to say the least. Granted, I never did get around to watching Wednesday, but he’s still one of those guys that just hooked me at a specific point in my development that I’ll be there for whatever he does. I don’t have a ton of faith that this will be great, but I like seeing Michael Keaton and other old cast members back. Fingers crossed.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice hits theaters on September 6th.

The Dead Don’t Hurt

Viggo Mortensen directing a western? Oh, absolutely, this is 100% my jam. Plus, you got Vicky Krieps in the mix, she’s always great. Looks really rock solid. Not much else to add outside of that. This is definitely one I’ll be looking out for when it’s out or if I get a screener.

The Dead Don’t Hurt opens in theaters on May 31st.

The Penguin

The Penguin was definitely a standout character in The Batman, even if it’s weird seeing Colin Farrell do the whole fat suit routine. But the idea of doing a miniseries that’s basically a gangster show with the Penguin, yeah, that sounds like fun. There’s definitely potential there, and I hope it works out. I didn’t love The Batman, but I liked it fine. I’ll give this a shot.

The Penguin premieres exclusively on Max on a currently unspecified date later this fall.
