So, the week of non-stop trailers is finally over. You can read my thoughts on those trailers in my last Trailer Talk here. It looks like we have the best for last here with the very first trailer for First Man. Check this out!
Just show the whole damn movie why don’t ya, am I right?
Honestly, I’m only half-kidding. The thing about me is that I’m a huge space nut, so this was something I was going to see pretty much regardless of how it looked. However, with Damien Chazelle at the helm? That is genuinely exciting, even if he isn’t writing this time around.
Although, I gotta say, the trailer itself seemed like business as usual for these kinds of biopics. It’s missing those big, stylistic flourishes that Chazelle is known for, and while it is a tense trailer, it doesn’t get across the whole idea about being an “action movie,” which is what the screenwriter, Josh Singer, described the movie as in an interview with the Boston Globe.
Plus, you know, giving away a lot of the story. That’s a very questionable choice. It’s admittedly not a great trailer, but it’s not taking away the excitement I already have for the project. Plus, this cast is way too good.
