Trailer Talk: Deadpool & Wolverine, Twisters, and more!

Deadpool & Wolverine

Looks solid, I guess. I’m still confused as to what the premise is, why he’s being pulled in by the people from the Loki show (while I have to watch season 2 to understand this?), and all that. But I have enjoyed these movies, I even like the 2nd better than the first. So, who knows, this might turn out pretty good. I’ll be cautiously optimistic.

Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26th.

Sasquatch Sunset

I love everything about this. I love how weird and wacky this looks. I love that it seems to be essentially a silent film with two recognizable names buried under makeup and costume. It looks so funny, but I can also see them exploring a lot more meatier ideas about family and connection and life. I can’t wait, this looks right up my alley.

Sasquatch Sunset opens in select theaters on April 12th before expanding on April 19th.

Twisters

Mostly interested in this because Lee Isaac Chung is directing it, and I do like Glen Powell. It’s really a testament to the original that it’s so well made that even a sequel all these years later doesn’t look that much better. Not saying it’s bad, just that the visuals don’t even surpass what the first achieved. I’m not even that attached to the original film, so I’m not super excited for this, but I’m curious to see what they have in store.

Twisters hits theaters on July 19th.

Wicked Little Letters

The premise is pretty intriguing, and with a cast like this, I can imagine them really making a meal out of this kind of material. It looks fun and engaging. Haven’t heard much about this story, but I do like the idea behind it. I’ve seen two films from this Director, one I liked (The One And Only Ivan) and one I didn’t (Me Before You), so we’ll see where this lands.

Wicked Little Letters opens in select theaters on March 29th before expanding on April 5th.

First Time Female Director

Looks pretty amusing. Sometimes when you have these kinds of comedies that’s just jam packed with recognizable funny people,it can be a bit hit-or-miss, but I like what I see. It is Chelsea Peretti’s directorial debut, which adds another fun layer to the story. I’m personally very excited to see Andy Richter, but this cast is pretty great. I’ll keep this on my radar.

First Time Female Director streams exclusively on The Roku Channel on March 8th.

American Dreamer

This could be fun! I like Peter Dinklage a lot  and I feel he hasn’t had a ton of opportunities to really stretch his comedic muscles, and this looks like something that could really give him some fun material to work with. Rest of the cast looks solid too. It is a bit worrisome that I looked up the film, and it says it premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival all the way back in 2022. So the fact it’s only just now getting distribution is curious. But I’ll give it a chance.

American Dreamer opens in select theaters and VOD platforms on March 8th.
