Wow, I gotta say, this actually looks pretty cute and quite a bit of fun. I was not sure what to expect of this when it was announced, but this looks like it’ll be a fun time, if not a particularly intellectually demanding, time at the movies. Dwayne Johnson works better than I expected, and the rest of the voice cast seems on point. This is definitely a pleasant surprise, I’m curious to see how it turns out.
DC League Of Super-Pets hits theaters on May 20th, 2022.
Is there anything bad that one could say of Clifton Collins Jr.? I certainly can’t think of anything. He’s been one of those low-key actors who has been delivering for years, but don’t quite get their due. I can’t recall the last time I’ve seen him in a lead role, and this looks like a pretty meaty role for him that I’m sure he’ll knock out of the park. The story looks solid and affecting, if not the most unique, but I’m definitely curious about this.
Jockey opens in select theaters on December 29th.
Wow, I’m trying to remember the last time we’ve seen a total unabashed cheesy rom-com with big stats going to theaters, this feels like something that should’ve come out in 2004, and I do not mean that in a bad way at all. These kinds of movies used to dominate the box office, and now they’re a rarity outside of streaming services. It probably helped that this was apparently based on a graphic novel. Go figure. Anyway, this looks charming as hell, I’m usually a sucker for these, so I’ll probably have a good time.
Marry Me hits theaters on February 11th, 2022.
Yawn, another generic artificial intelligence apocalypse movie. I don’t care for a lot of these films, and especially after we got a fairly positive outlook on artificial intelligence in the wonderful Tom Hanks movie, Finch. I’ll say some moments here did seem tense, but I’m just not on board with the premise. I’ll give it a shot though, I like being proven wrong.
Mother/Android will be released on Hulu on December 17th.
This is the first of two TV show trailers (both of which also happen to feature Seth Rogen), and I already have a bit of an issue. Before I get into it, I will say that as juvenile as this looks, I laughed a few times. It’s my kind of silly, and I love how it contrasts with the animation. My issue? Why is this a show? This is literally a perfect 90 minute movie. How much story could they possibly pack in here to warrant numerous episodes. It honestly makes me less inclined to see it, but we’ll see once word-of-mouth gets out.
Santa Inc. premieres on HBO Max on December 2nd.
I was worried for a bit when those first pics of Lily James as Pamela Anderson hit the web. Like, yes, the resemblance is uncanny, but would the makeup prove restrictive or distracting? Apparently not, she looks great here, and the vibe is a lot of fun too. I actually don’t know all the nitty-gritty details on how this scandal came about, so I’m curious to see how it’s dramatized. Consider me sold.
