This looks really good. Both as a movie, but even just on a purely visual level, the cinematography here is incredible. So lush and warm and beautiful. I hope that I get a chance to see this on the big screen. The story itself looks solid, I like a good romance and stories about struggling artists are compelling and hit close to home. Plus, I really like Kiki Layne, and she looks like she’s delivering one hell of a performance here. Killer vocals too.
Dandelion opens in select theaters on July 12th.
I remember Caveat being solid, very striking and eerie, even if I didn’t necessarily love it. But I am very much on board with this film. It looks like a really cool follow up, it has an interesting premise, and it just looks super creepy and has a lot of that unnerving atmosphere that made Caveat get under your skin so easily. I’m looking forward to this.
Oddity opens in select theaters on July 19th.
The weirdest thing about the trailer is the realization that this is based on a book. What the hell kind of book is this? Anyways, this looks OK, I suppose. Action comedies are kinda hard to market, in my opinion. It could go either way. I do like the cast a lot, lots of people I enjoy seeing. It is from the director of Day Shift, which I enjoyed, so the action and stunt work looks legit. So, I do at least have to be excited for. I’ll give it a shot.
The Killer’s Game hits theaters on September 13th.
I’m not especially invested in Pharrell’s story, but this looks super cute and inventive. I can’t say I’ve seen anything quite like it, so it definitely earns points for originality. I’m very curious at how they’ll go about telling Pharrell Williams’ journey and whether it will all be primarily comedic. There’s potential for something cool here, I hope it doesn’t fall short.
Piece By Piece hits theaters on October 11th.
Don’t have a lot to say about this. Looks fine, I guess. Your usual drama about grief and family, you seen one, you kinda seen them all. But it doesn’t look bad at all. I’ve only seen Nick Jonas in a few films, and I remember him being pretty serviceable, but nothing super memorable. Maybe he just needs more meaty material like this, and I guess it helps when you have the support of a cast like this. But yeah, looks alright.
The Good Half is receiving a nationwide Fathom Events Screening on July 23rd and 25th
I really enjoyed Sausage Party. I thought it was very goofy and funny and absurd. Granted, I’ve only seen it the one time, I have zero idea if it holds up well, but I am into the idea of seeing these characters get into some raunchy shenanigans again. I don’t know if I need a whole series, a new movie would have sufficed, but this is what we’re getting. I’ll definitely give the first episode a watch at least, and see if it catches my interest.
Sausage Party: Foodtopia streams exclusively on Amazon Prime Video starting July 11th.
