The Winners Of The 92nd Academy Awards

I could not be more happier to be wrong in this scenario. Still managed to get 20 out of 24 predictions right, but I took the cynical route, and assumed 1917 would take Best Director and Best Picture. Thankfully, that turned out not to be the case. Anyway, I didn’t see the live telecast, so I can’t comment on how things went, I’m sure it was as tedious as ever. Here’s your complete list of winners from last night:

Obviously, Parasite made history to be the first film not in the English language to take home the top prize, and while I was aware there was a lot of love in the Academy, I gotta admit, I did not expect them to go for it. Seeing Bong Joon-ho being showered with accolades this awards season has brought me so much joy as a fan. Although, aside from that, the winners have been very predictable as usual. Aside from the upset from Parasite, the winners have largely been all the more traditional choices. But I guess that’s the trade-off, the Academy is going to be like this for a while until they really start implementing real change to their process.

Anyway, awards season for 2019 is finally over. We can now focus on whatever is waiting for us right around the corner in 2020. In the meantime, if you haven’t gotten around to it yet, please check out my recent post, 50 Films I Loved In 2019, where I go over all the films I really enjoyed last year, many of which weren’t nominated for anything, but are still work seeking out. And while I’m in promo-mode, consider sending a donation through my Paypal link, any support is greatly appreciated, and everything I get goes towards keeping this site going.

So, what do you think of the winners? Any thoughts on the ceremony? Feel free to discuss in the comments!
