While I understand the complaints people had about Gareth Edward’s Godzilla, I still loved it. But when Michael Dougherty was announced to co-write and direct the sequel, I was excited. We finally have footage now after it premiered at SDCC. Check it out:
Holy mackerel. Not that is a trailer!
This is easily the best trailer of Comic-Con so far, though we still have Aquaman coming up, but this is going to be a tough one to beat.
The trailer only gives us slight hints as to what exactly is going on, so here’s the official plot synopsis.
“Humanity’s existence hangs in the balance when the mighty Godzilla collides with Mothra, Rodan and the three-headed monster King Ghidorah.”
I like the whole angle of the monsters being these God-like titans worshiped by people long ago. So, even though the tone is probably going to be more fun than Edwards’ film, it’s still going to have that sense of awe when it comes to the monsters. I like that. I also love the post-apocalyptic take, and it’s great seeing all the new cast members.
Yeah, I don’t have much else to say. I just want to watch it again. Long live the king indeed.
