Fox Threatens To Start Shooting Gambit Film This Summer

So, it looks like Simon Kinberg and Channing Tatum are still trying to make fetch happen with their Gambit project. According to a report from Variety, Kinberg said that they have a script everyone seems to love, and that they’re hoping to start shooting the project in the summer, even though they don’t have a director yet.

This is a film that has been through a lot issues ever since it was announced back in 2015, but problems with cast and directors kept pushing the project back (to the point where it has its own damn Wikipedia page!!!), and honestly, I highly doubt this will start principal photography in the summer. Now way, no how.

Plus, let’s be real here. Gambit is a really boring and uninteresting character. Even in the cartoon, where I assume his popularity skyrocketed amongst modern X-Men fans, I just never latched onto him that much. He’s a dude with a stick and some cards. The closest I was even remotely interested in the project was when the last director, Gore Verbinski, was announced to tackle the film, since he could’ve brought in some of his weirder impulses, but as soon as he left, what little interest I had went right out the window.

If you are a fan, and you really want this movie, all the power to ya. I hope it happens and that it makes you happy. I’ve yet to actually see anyone actually wanting this to exist, but I’m sure there are some of you out there. Just, you know, don’t hold your breath.
