This is not a drill, folks! It looks like it’s actually happening. Bill & Ted 3 is now official a go.
The news is coming from the Cannes Film Festival, where’s it’s being shopped, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Almost everyone involved with the original films is coming back. Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves have signed on. The original screenwriters, Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, are penning the script. The big newcomer is director, Dean Parisot, who might not be a household name, but he has extensive directing credits from his TV work, and he also helmed films such as Fun with Dick and Jane, and Galaxy Quest.
The third installment will be titled Bill & Ted Face the Music, and will revolve around the duo not only weighed down by the responsibilities of adulthood, but also the fact that they never got around to writing the song that they were supposedly destined to write. So, with the fabric of time and space tearing around them, Bill and Ted, along with the aid of their daughters, a new crop of historical figures, and some sympathetic music legends, set out on another time travel adventure to seek the song that will set their world right, and bring harmony in the universe.
I’m very excited for this, and I’m glad that after years of trying to get this off the ground, most of the people involved with the original films are back. This is still early in the production process, so we’ll get more details, including a release date, further down the line, and we’ll keep you updated as that info is released.
