It’s too early for me to do any real analysis of the nominees, but honestly, I don’t think there is much need from one. There are practically zero big surprises here, with the only one being Marina de Tavira as Best Supporting Actress for Roma because she hasn’t been in the overall awards conversation at all up until this point. There are definitely some disappointments, both in what is nominated *cough Bohemian Rhapsody, Green Book cough* and what isn’t like Boots Riley’s screenplay for Sorry To Bother You, the score for First Man, nothing for Widows, among others that I’m sure you’ll probably have.
